Alas...No Chemo

Heya friends....as you can see from the title of my post, there was no chemo today for my little buddy.
Judy, the nurse from Dr. P's office called this morning to say no chemo...blood platelets are too low.
Rats!
and boy, was she bummed!
Hopefully the platelets will be back up and running in good order for next week!
Keep those...oh, you know what to do!

Sending out some very special birthday love from America all the way to New Zealand for Bazza!
Happy Birthday fella! Sorry my mom missed your birthday...there is always next year!

Loads of love and hugs

Walking On Sunshine

What a glorious, gorgwous amazingly beautiful sunshiney day we are having today!
Ahhh...its so nice and it does wonders for the soul!
Nothing big going on really today...went for CBC/Chem Panel...this is the blod test thats taken the day before chemo to insure that all of my mom's blood levels are up and ready.
We also had a big outting at Walmart do get some meds and such. My mom did get a wee bit tired while we were there, but she did good and it was really the first day out in quiet a long time.
SO, if all goes well, tomorrow will be Day Three of Round Two.
I have no doubts that everything will be good to go tomorrow.
Umm...lets see what else?
Oh!
My mom goes for another CT Scan on march 30th. Fo rthose of you who dont remember, the CT Scan is the scan that checks everthing form the neck to the pelvis and shows how the canser ISNT doing.
So, friends, keep your fingers, toes and eyes crossed that the blasted canser is vacating the building.
Goodbye canser, dont let the door hit you on the ass on the way out!
And on another note, my dad will be home on Sunday!
We are very excited...but Im sad...I've got to gather up all of my junk and move back to my own house! :(
and I really haven't a clue as to what I will do with myself in the evenings...haha.
My cousin Ashley says that maybe we will go back to our old habits...window shopping for hours at Target.
Alright friends, thats all Ive got for now....
remember, keep the postive energy, laughter, love and prayers coming!

hugs to all

Its Update Time

Hi friends!
So, just wanted to give you a quick little update...
Unfortunately, my mom had another seizure on Friday...if you are keeping track of the date, it was Friday the Thirteenth...sheesh!
We called 911 again and off we went via ambulance to the ER.
They did all of the regular tests, blood, CAT scan, and that reflex pushy thing and yes, that's the technical name for...look it up. ;)
After a few hours, yes, hours, they told us that there wasn't anything new that was showing up on the CAT Scan and nothing new on or in her brain...thank god!
The ER doctor said that basically it was most likely a reaction to the chemo and prescribed her another anti-seizure medication call Kepro. This will basically act as a backup for the other anti-seizure medication that she already takes, Dilantin.
I think that I should take a little break here and explain what the seizure is...I'm afraid that you are reading this thinking its something like you see in the movies.
I will reassure you that this is not the case. It looks more like an intense muscle spasm...she is fully coherent, awake and talking...its just that her left leg and arm shake like a spasm.
Its definitely scary, I'm not gonna lie, but its not full-on like the movies.

So, today, we went to see Dr. Paroly just because of what happened on Friday and to ask some questions.
Canser and seizures and all of this tends be a little confusing...to say the least.
Anyway, he pretty much agreed with the ER doctor. He has decided that he is going to up the dosage of Decadron, which is the anti-inflammatory that goes into bag one during chemo.
Dr. Paroly thinks that should do the trick.
Keep your fingers crossed on that!
Lets see...what else can I update you on?
Day 8, Round 2 chemo starts tomorrow.

And aside from everything else...we are good...my mom is very tired....but good.

Keep keeping those fingers crossed, prayers coming, candles lighting, million claps clapping, positive thoughts and healing light reverberating through the universe!
We cherish and love all of you!

Day One, Cycle Two

Hi friends...just a quick note before I run off to bed...
tomorrow is day one of cycle two...8.40am!!! sheesh!
As we learned last time, this day can be a bit of a doozy...I just hope it isn't as rough as last time.
However, the rest of the cycle went really well, which makes tomorrow a wee bit easier.
Send out some good juju that it doesn't knock my mom down as bad as last time...if you wouldn't mind.
And keep on sending out all of that other amazing stuff to the universe that you have been...good juju, claps, healing prayers, light and love...lets kick cansers ass!
goodnight, hugs and as always, loads and loads of love to all of you!

Daylight Savings Time!! Woo-Who!

We, here at Casa Crichton love, love, love Daylight Savings Time! Its one step closer to summer!
Well, there isn't much going on here at the moment...however, tomorrow is CBC Blood test day, then Tuesday is Pre-chemo visit, and then Wednesday is Day one of Cycle 2. This is the one that is a little rough if you all remember from last month. The rest of this week will be a very quiet and sleepy week...well, after Wednesday anyway.
So keep your fingers crossed that it goes smoothly and a little less rough this week.

In the meantime, watch this movie....

Hey There! Hi There! Ho There!

Just wanted to drop in and say heya! All is well here. My mom is feeling wonderful, although she is beginning to show signs of Cabin Fever.
Since my dad isn't around right now, we are taking turns spending the night with her...Michael and I stay one night, then Ashley stays the next night. Tonight is Ashley's turn and I think even Mikey Dean is coming up from LA to bounce in on the slumber party!
It has also been nice cooking the dinners. Its like family night every night, everyone makes sure that they are "home" by 5.30 pm and we usually eat around 6.30pm. This is quiet a "new' thing for me as I haven't had a regular dinner hour since I lived at home at least 15 years ago! OMG! wow. I am oooollllld!!!
Tonight we are having Asian night! Shrimp Gyoza, Egg rolls and Vegetable Stir-Fry. Yumm.

Alright, We are outta here, friends...its time to grocery shop.

Thanks for all of the food, love, support, laughter and thoughts.
Keep the positive energy a-flowin our way!

and speaking of positve energy....
please send out some healing vibes for my mom's dear friend, Shazza (Sharon). SHe isnt feling well and is currently in hospital.
Get well soon Shazza....Kazza is sending loads of love to you!

hugs
